Roam is poo
Roam make me cranky and frustrated.
I came through the M4 toll this arvo and my etag beeped 4 times. It went through a phase of doing that in the Lane Cove Tunnel in July - and when I rang Roam they just said there was nothing wrong and not to worry about it. Sure enough, it went away. So when it’s been doing that all this week, I haven’t worried so much. But today I thought I’d give them a call to just check that everything was ok, or that perhaps they want to send me a new tag.
Instead, I was met with the guy telling me my account was suspended and was in the negative in balance. I quickly argued with the dude that I made a payment last week (I’ve always hated direct debit - don’t like the idea of money just randomly disappearing from my account with no notice), but he was very certain that no payment had been made. After we back and forthed for a while, I clearly broke through the brick wall I was speaking to and he said he could place an investigation to find the payment. Thank you… finally.
But the suckiest thing is that all the tolls I’ve driven through this week, I haven’t paid for. So in about 3 months time, I’m gonna get about 4 or 5 notices in the mail and have to fight with each of the toll operators as to why they shouldn’t charge me the $10 admin fee as well as the toll. [3 months time because Telstra receive it, then have to send it to me and that whole process takes 3 odd months].
Like I said, cranky and frustrated. And even more so cos this isn’t the first time.
