the weekend that was

So Saturday was pretty relaxing. The evening was round 2 of Christmas Celebrations at church - musically was heaps better and tighter, and I was excited for it… until my keyboard didn’t get turned on until halfway through the song. That sucked a lot.

Afterwards was hanging with people at the house of bach watching election coverage, and then a game of poker. Glad that K-Rudd is in and that Johnny is out. Bad day for Johnny - not only loosing government, but losing his seat as well. Bugger. But I am excited for a Labour government in Australia… despite the majority of my friends being incredibly against it to the point of almost offending me. But eh… go Kev!

And then today was also a bit of relaxing. I went to get me a pair of new shoes in Blacktown. I needed to go and fetch the magic machine for work tomorrow from Parramatta again. It had all been arranged last week, and so I set off for Parra, aiming to be in and out and back at Toonie for band practice by 3:15-3:20. That was until the weekend staff had no idea what was doing and wouldn’t let me take it until their assistant manager came back from lunch. So that meant I rocked up for band practice at 3:55… not at all happy, cos I don’t feel one bit prepared or organised when I get there 5 minutes before we start. But in the end, God was with me and I made some good noises.

We hung out at the Solomons’ place and ate chicken and watched Sydney FC have a frustrating draw… and then poker was played too. Apparently people don’t like the way I play, so next time I will be quiet and just win rather than try and be helpful.

And that is the weekend. I’m feeling tired and slightly frustrated after this evening. But quickly passing over that feeling to think about the week ahead - I have to finalise a Kedron program for Thursday night - that involves me doing a lot of work between now and then. I’m feeling a little down about it all, because after encouraging people to get involved and nominate themselves to run activities during the week, I had one person out of 10 actually say they’ll run something. So I’m not quite sure what to think there… But I am going to try and stick with that stuff I learnt last week…

Do not be anxious about anything.

… and talk to God about it. I think that is the best thing to do.

I think you play to win, and that my friend is the most excellent way to play. It’s not like it’s “everyone gets a trophy day”
