sunday lunch thoughts
Was listening to this song last night. I absolutely adore the beat and tune of this song. But it’s the lyrics that I love more…
I heard the broadcast on the news and it made me irate;
The preacher spoke his blasphemies, and they fell on my plate.
The things we worked so hard to build - like faith and hope and right;
The things that men of faith let slip, they burn my eyes.I heard the wireless send a sign of infidelity:
They said that prostitution’s fine. But that’s not what it said to me.
The things that loving men hold dear - like the love of a wife and child.
The things that meant so much to me, the world’s abandoned.But the prophet wouldn’t take that crap, he’d say…
“Burn the fields, burn the town, tear it down.
Return to rust, dust to dust and earth to ground.”
[the prophet - wishful thinking]
I remember hearing Carl from Wishful talk about this song at AGMF when we went. He was talking about how he came up with this song - about how God would bring his wrath on cities that were disobeying Him. And how crap the world is today.
All I can do is just try and make my life one that pleases God. And pray for my friends and family. And try to change my corner of the world to be one that pleases God.
