Rhodes shops have nice cafes
What a tops day it was today. And the weather was just awesome.
I headed out to Bicentennial Park in Homebush to catch up with all the Kedron leaders. There was a few who couldn’t make it, but there was still quite a few there, and so it was good to catch up and just have a great arvo with them.
The sun disappeared quite quickly though, as the afternoon went on. It got quite cold and people started to head off home. Lexi, Nick, Suse and I were left, and so we thought we’d head off to Rhodes to find somewhere warm to have a coffee.
We wandered into a little coffee shop on the lower level of Rhodes shops, and they lady said she was closing at 6 (and it was already 5:40). She also said that everything in Rhodes closed at 6, but suggested a restaurant up the end of the road where we could go to have a coffee. So off we went. The restaurant was quite fancy, and weren’t keen to house us just for coffee. So we wandered back down to the shops.
We went in on the upper level, and by this time it was just after 6. And low and behold, there were still a couple of cafes open on the upper level (and lower level too as we found out later on!) – so this lady just didn’t want us to go somewhere else in the shopping centre – how mean! We found an awesome little “brasserie” (basically a cafe looking place that can serve alcohol without food purchase) and sat down to enjoy a couple of coffees each, and some great chats for a couple of hours.
Eventually, at about 8pm, we decided it was about time to head home… but it was a fun evening – many stories told, and laughs shared. I do like just heading out for coffee with people I don’t get to catch up with much. Should try and do it more often.
